[cool][#0000ff]A couple of days ago WH2 replied to a post on Jordanelle shore fishing with a pic of the sign to Ross Creek State Park and a question about whether anybody had fished there. It was new to me so I emailed the State Parks info site and got the following response. Looks like a great new access site on the north end of the lake. No launch facilities but will be great for bank tanglers, tubers and ice fishermen. See the PDF file attached for more info. I have separated out a couple of the maps and attached them too.[/#0000ff]
Hi Pat,
Yes, Ross Creek is part of Jordanelle State Park. This is an area that has belonged to us for some time, but we've only just recently begun to develop.
Currently, the area is basically a trail head at approximately the mid-point of a trail between Hailstone and Rock Cliff. We should have a trail map posted on our website by the end of this month.
To learn more about the area and our plans for it, please visit our website planning page and find the Ross Creek concept plan. [url "http://www.stateparks.utah.gov/planning"]http://www.stateparks.utah..gov/planning[/url]
Thanks for your interest and thanks for supporting your state parks!
Sincerely,
Brad Adkins

Thanks bud!!!! That's the exact area that I used to fish with Buddy and Sparky. Quit fishing it because of park leash laws. Anything new on that? For now I'll hit the Pine, Mantua and S.E. Idaho spots. [:/] Keep up the extraordinary good work, [ ![Smile Smile](https://bigfishtackle.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.png) ][ ![Smile Smile](https://bigfishtackle.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.png) ][ ![Smile Smile](https://bigfishtackle.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.png) ]

Yeah, that's why I quit going. How do you tube with a dog on a leach ???? I don't get it. with all the other deposits from all the other wild life, what is the problem with a dog out there in the remote shore line and adjacent areas? Oh well, there's a lot of other dog companion friendly areas that I can still go to.

I am betting wild animals don't eat man made processed food...LOL
My dog is on a leash in public places and I always pack...plastic bags.
I fish rivers where dog crap is all over, just nasty and avoidable by owners.
Sorry for side track
Cool about new launch! Have to check it out soon.
Thanks guys.

You don't have to pay if you don't go into the parking area is my understanding and there were a lot of folks that must have had the same idea when I was there a few weeks back.
Your right there is no boat launch but the old road does go right down into the lake at that location. Over the years it has really stated to fall apart but I think a boat could be launched there if they allowed you to drive down to the lake. At this point, I don't see that happening but it would be nice if they allowed you to drive down a little closer to the water. They do have the road that goes past the restrooms and down to the lake, so I would hope the day comes that they expand that area. I can't remember the exact cost of parking in their lot but it seem like it was $7.
It seems to me that it is about 1/4 mile walk down to the water depending on which route you take, I think it is a little shorter if you park outside the pay area and walk down from there but the trail is not nearly as good as the road in the pay area IMO.

Rock Cliff was pretty unimproved for a long time. One outhouse that was quite a walk from the water. Look at it now...it won't be long before this one is a money maker as well.

no motorized vehicles are allowed down that road at all. I dont think that they will ever allow vehicles down that road. Too many people are walking, bicycling, or riding horses down that trail. You would have a hard time launching a boat down that road anyways. Its a very gradual grade. I have stood about 30 from shore on that road and only been up to my thighs in water.
Its about a brisk 10-15 minute walk from the parking lot down the road to the water.

by "pine", do you mean Pineview?
a couple week ago my son was up there "swimming" the dog, and a ranger kicked them out... he told the boy that no dogs are allowed, and that he should leave before "someone" called the animal control.
i know, we've all seen plenty of dogs there, but just a word of caution.

You have brought up a question that I am having difficulty researching. I haven't brought my dog to Pineview for over a year but I was planning on doing so in the near future. So far vairous web sites indicates that Pineview is not manged as a state park and is thus under the forest service purview. I realize that various camp grounds, etc may have dog restrictions but there is a lot of shore line that one can access w;o using camp grounds and other privately run areas. The only thing I have found is under Weber County Gov., Pineview:
18-3-6 Dogs. Dogs are not allowed on the Anderson Cove beach day use area, Middle
Inlet day use area and Cemetery Point day use area. This restriction does not apply to an assistance animal.
I generally go in to the north shore or North Fork area So if any one has some specifics on dog use limitations, like being kept on a leash or some such, I sure would appreciate the info. Like I've said previously, can't tube fish with a dog on a leash.

Nope, you're apparently going to have to get a separate dog-appropriate tube for the dog, and he won't be allowed to touch the water.
Or some ridiculous reg.
I personally loathe what the State Parks are doing in general, but more access is more access, on a lake that SHOULD have plenty of walk down access, already.....
