On Friday apparently my parents want me to go to uinta mountain in kamas to grab our amazing free camping spot and im thinking of going on a hike to a lake. Is there any good lakes with good fishing that i can hike up to that's not far far away. I have looked on map and try to find one that's closer and has some good fishing. Any suggestions?? I have a ford taurus so idk how good are the roads that could get me closer to lakes then hike from a point and go up hiking where i stopped????

I hiked to ruth lake a couple summers ago and caught some 12 or so inch brookies....I was fishing in a crappy shallow spot to. I'm sure I could have found a deeper better spot. Still I caught some and it was in the "slow time" of day to.

Try Fehr Lake. You can park at the Fehr Lake Trailhead on the right side of the road just past Mirror Lake. It's only about 1/4 mile and has some OK brookies. Maybe a 14"er or two.

You could also take the Trial Lake turn off and go just past Trial Lake to the Crystal Lake Trail Head. Washington Lake, Crystal Lake and Cliff lake are all 1/4 mile or less. Small brookies and cutts but eager and pretty.

I'll second the Fehr Lake trail suggestion. The fishing slows a bit past Fehr Lake but I haven't caught a brookie less than a foot long this summer at the next couple lakes. There are some smaller ones in there but they didn't harass me.
