Hey guys.
Does anyone know when the crawdads start coming shallow and are easy to start catching at Scofield?
Thanks!

We usually wait until the water gets a little warmer. There are obviously some there to catch today, but I would wait until later in June before it gets really good.

Is Scofield as good as Strawberry when it comes to crawdad catching?

I have never been to Scofield to catch craws, but you need to wait until at least the middle or end of June for craws on Strawberry. They are just to sluggish in the cold water and don't move around much.
Are there other bodies of water that have populations of craws. My neighbor and I love to go catch them a couple times a year. We usually end up with a couple buckets full for a good southern craw fish boil.

We were not trying for them, but caught several fairly good size out of Hyrum last August.

I've done pretty good for them at Scofield in July and August. It's kind of hit and miss when I've done it. Strawberry is by far, IMHO, the better place for crawdads.
We caught a decent amount at Scofield using traps and chicken, but I think we caught more with a net just wading in the shallows. Kind of more fun that way too.

As it warms up in the summer, they move into the shallows and are super easy to catch at Schofield. We have done very well in the rocks right near the boat ramp in the main state park. They may be tough to catch this time of year though, they really seem to do best when the water is over 60-65 degrees in my experience. Good luck, and don't forget to take some corn on the cob with you!
