Stillwater advice
#21
The best tip is to fish where the fish are. Watch the other fishermen. If the bank anglers are catching move in closer to shore. If the trolling anglers are catching watch and see if they are using down riggers or just trolling behind the boat. Make your depth accordingly.

The best advice I can give anyone new to the game is simply to follow the KISS method and keep everything simple or you start to look awful stupid! Find a method that you enjoy using and employ it....from my experience, the methods that work at one place generally work at others. Don't complicate things...I huck streamers in moving water, so I generally huck streamers in stillwater. If the fish are rising, I use a floating line (and occasionally dries). If they fish are not rising, I generally use a sink line and vary my depths until I find success.
