Strawberry/Soldier creek

Did anyone go up to strawberry or soldier creek today? Where is the best ice and the easiest access? Thanks!

I am up there now. Took my snow machine cross country to a back bay west of the Marina. Ice is a solid 5 inches of clear ice. Feels very solid. Probably 30 to 40 people fishing by the Marina. Saw one snow machine on the ice but I'm not one to take chances. Fishing was slower from 2:00 ( when I got here) until about 5:30. Caught 10 or so in that time. Then it went nuts with a fish on every drop. Finally got tired of getting fish off the hook and back down the hole so I headed in.

We fished Chicken Creek East. Access wasn't too bad and the ice was about 3 1/2" thick out in the middle.

I'm going Monday &Tuesday, and staying at the lodge at Strawberry. They wouldn't take a reservation, because no one knows they are open. Around $100 per night for two queen size beds.
