Navigating
#1
It’s always unfortunate to have a negative encounter with another boat. I was on strawberry yesterday and was landing a double and trying to navigate around another boat. I started the conversation friendly until the gentleman on the pontoon started spouting off saying everyone is going one way and there are no navigation rules for boats that are fishing. I ended the conversation there knowing you aren’t going to get through to the ignorant. Here is a quick link to anyone wanting to freshen up on water etiquette. https://www.boatus.com/expert-advice/exp...ght-of-way

Sounds like a guy I have seen out there many times, that think they own the water and they think it's your job to stay out of his way. Was he fishing by himself?

More details, please.  I presume both boats were moving, and about to cross.

He was not by himself, he had a couple of boat mates that ducked down as soon as he started running his mouth. He was headed south. I was headed east. I was to his starboard. I kept turning right as we approached each other and I finally told him that I can’t keep turning right or I’m going to cross my lines and he kept driving into my port side. he told me that I was going the wrong way. I looked up to Try to figure out what he was talking about. I realized that he was pretty far off the proper etiquette and just realized it was best to not engage anymore.
