Kokanee lures
#1
I have been tying my Kokanee lures. I’m having a hard time finding pink glow beads in a 4 or 5 mm size. I can find small amounts here and there but no pink glow. Back ordered on Jan’s. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? TIA

I gave up trying to find just exactly the beads I wanted for making spinners, fligs, crawler rigs, etc.  So I have been making my own for years.  Takes an investment in white or silver beads, some white paint undercoat and then the paints, glow, glitter and other goodies you need for the beads you want.

A hobby and craft store like Hobby Lobby has just about every size and type of bead you might want...unless you are a fisherman with specific needs.  That's where the custom painting and glowing come in.  I use the same jig paints for beads that I use for jig heads.  Glow is a bit trickier.  Many of the "glow paints" are semi worthless.  They often do not glow very bright...or for very long.  And some are labeled as one color but actually glow another color.  So I get the expensive (but much better) glow powders and mix them with clear gloss jig paint.  It's a process you can only learn by doing.

If painting your own beads, simply stick one on the top of a toothpick, paint and/or glow it and then stick the other end of the toothpick into some soft foam while drying.

I have sold off all my painting and glittering materials.  But I have a lot of custom made beads left.  If you are down this way I'll donate them to a new happy home and show you some of the steps involved.  I also have a  bunch of unpainted beads to help get you started.  No extra cost.

I would try Radical Glow's web sight. Blake has a good selection of beads.

I bought an entire set of 1000, 5mm glow beads on Temu for less than $5. They actually are great beads too.
