Just my two cents for what it worth, is wherever you get on, walk as far as your willing or capable of away from the access point. Strawberry Bay is the most pressured place on the lake and every fish in that area has likely been sore lipped several time by now. In my experience specific spots are not that important at Strawberry you can literally walk strait out into the middle of the Triangle and there will be fish. A half hour walk will produce a lot better fishing. you can set up a tent and let the fish come to you or better yet if you want to have faster action, punch a hole drop down catch the couple easy fish that are there and when the bite slows walk 50 ft. punch another hole catch the easy ones wash rinse and repeat creating a circuit of holes you can work back through. In general there will be three bands of fish the ones on the bottom often times harder to hook especially in deeper water the ones in the middle of the water Colum you can chase up and down on the graph and the most aggressive ones that you wont necessarily see on your fish finder just under the ice. Last face book report I saw said there is a couple inches of slush and a half a foot of snow I cant attest to the accuracy of that. Another good option is the shuttle service it cost like $40 a person and they will take you wherever you want to go, be aware that they do not start operations until 8am and you should be there at least an hour before that to secure a spot at the front of the line to go out first. Good luck out there tomorrow I hope you guys get into them.

Thanks guys, we checked the temps up there and lots of cold temps, so I'm hoping the slush will be capped under a thick enough layer of surface ice to make it hold up all day... Probably won't get there again this week and I'll be cheating and taking the mobile so I can go where ever we want to... Usually as far away from the crowds as I can... Later J

Thanks for the update on conditions. Hoping to get a day trip in next week and then a camp trip in the weekend after that if the temps stay low. Good luck today.

I was on the Soldier Creek side friday. Upon arrival it was a balmy -1. I walked out about a mile following packed down snowmobile tracks. Ice started getting a little slushy by 2 pm when I left. Fishing was great!
Does anyone know who plows the road back to the dam? Do they maintain the road like that ever year? Thanks,

Here’s a Strawberry report for you. Fishing was slow today. Not as many fish coming thru and those that did were not aggressive. Lots of lookers and very few takes. We fished from 7-1:30 on the SC side. I iced 6 cuts and one bow. My buddy did slightly better with 5 or 6 cutts and 6 bows. Bows were all small (<15”) and caught shallow under the ice. If anything worked better than the next, it was a 1/16 oz white Maniac ice jig with the white w/red flake gizzy bug tipped with a mealworm with some garlic crawler scent applied to the gizzy bug. A green gizzy bug tipped with salted perch and more scent also did some damage. Those that were in the vicinity didn’t seem to be doing any better. Slow day all around.
Temps were 4 degrees at start and probably around 45-50 at 2pm when we got off. No slush at that point and with colder temps and storms rolling thru next week, I’d bet the slush monster is still a week or so out before making its appearance. The road has been plowed towards the dam. We only went in a mile or so, but it appeared to be plowed beyond.

Saturday at Strawberry, main marina entry point...now I remember why I don't like fishing Strawberry on Saturdays...on ice or open water..5 adults, 1 young son..we DID go farther out from the ramp than I'd normally go, in 69 FOW..very cold, like MWScott said, so we had to put up tents..2 comfortably in my tent, 4 in the large tent..buddy in my tent had the first hit after about 5 mins, nice keeper 14.5 cutt..so he was happy, never been on ice before..couple tiny taps and misses for me on the bottom, but overall slow, 'til about 1030, when it got even slower..we were far from the crowds nearer the ramp and shoreline, but apparently we were the target for the snowmobilers starting about 1030...so that probably led to our demise..about 1000 I had a solid hit up high, 10', and slowly pulled up my only catch, 19" releaser cutt, small cut shrimp pc on tube jig..one 17" rainbow caught in the other tent, so really slow for them also...good bunch of guys, so we still made it a good outing..even for a Saturday..how I wish I could still be at Rockport...Guluk..

Yeah, there was one coming back up the ramp as we were packing up..pulling his train behind the dog..looked nice, and I know there's an advantage to that kind of mobility..still think I'd rather have an E-Trike with spikes...if anybody can direct me to one??

They are currently sold out and my coorspondance with them says if I want one, pre-order it in September of this year. They will ship units to the States. There are 2 dealerships listed in SLC that have sold ENVO products, but have not ordered/sold any SnowKarts to date. I doubt there will be any seen in Utah until or unless a local dealer stocks them. If they become available for purchase locally, I think they might catch on. I doubt they will have enough power to pull a train of sleds like the SnowDogs do. But they should be ideal for one person with a sled full of gear.
