Siletz River

I am wanting to go down and float fish the Siletz River. I have never floated it but I heard someone recently flipped their drift boat on the river and was curious if it is totally necessary to bring my boat or if I can fish from shore and find success. I don't want to risk floating if there is a chance of me flipping my boat, especially now in February. Any local knowledge would be helpful! [fishon]
