Tube baits are for finesse fishing. The hollow is basically to keep the bait very light as well as insert weights and attractants inside. The trick is to let the tube bait fall slowly... the tails of strands moves around and drive the bass crazy.
so I guess, yea, work it like a worm.

You can also slip a jig head up inside and hop it along the bottom it works great for imitating a crawfish.

I fish tubes several ways. If fish are on the beds you can throw the tube in and watch them hit it(4-10# line). You can flip it to heavy cover (12-20# line). Drag it on a rig or split shot on points. Fish it next to bridge pilings when the suns up. You can do a lot with a tube.

You can stuff a jig head inside of a tube. You can rig them texas, carolina, split shot, drop shot. You can rig them carolina style slip a cork inside to make it float. You can jig them, fish them like a worm flip em under docks, around rocks,in the brush, weeds, vertical jig them. you can catch anything that swims on tube jigs. I wouldn't go fishing without them. How is that for starters?
