I have caught carp a couple of times before but have never really tried for them I caught them on dough bait. They fight nicely and are nice sized fish I know that except for the grass carp the are very unbeneficial to places like Utah Lake and Bear River. I would like to get into some big koi/carp where should I go? And one more thing what flies do you catch them on?

Utah Lake or the Jordan River. Worms work. If you're flinging flies, I've caught my fair share at UL on dry flies like caddis or even big hoppers. I just wade or float around in my toon until I see a group of them slurping on the surface and plop the fly right on top of them. On the Jordan, I've caught them will wooly buggers and back stabbers, but my all time best carp fly has been a regular old glow bug.

Oh my god if you want carp get your arse to Yuba! Night and day they are all over the place. Worms on the bottom with a egg sinker and swievel. If you can't get a carp there you can't fish!
