Jordanelle (report) monday 1-5
#1
[#800000]JedBurton and I hit Jordanelle today. Only 20 perch were harmed in this adventure, no perch hit in trees[Tongue]. We also caught about 11 rainbows(six were given a death sentence and were excuted) [angelic]. [/#800000]

[#800000] We were the first ones at the Rockcliffs. We followed some tracks and fished where someone was fishing sunday. We were about 125 yards west of the road at the northbank , no more than 15 off the bank. We fished in 15-20 feet of water. [/#800000]

[#800000] We got there it was about 10 degrees with a fogish lite snow coming down. About an hour later, the snow really started falling heavier. I tried to set myself and my sled on fire. I was having problems with my propane heater. It started leakng fluid and catching on fire. Jed figured the problem, and we bled the tank. Then the sun came out and it got warm maybe up to 20 degrees[unsure]. And, the heater was working fine(now that we didn't need it). [/#800000]

[#800000] All in all, we had a very good day of fishing. Jed will post pictures tomorrow.[/#800000]

Sounds like a ton of fun tomegun. Have you ever tried for smallmouth through the ice up there?

[#800000]Nope, this was my first time ice fishing Jordanelle. I don't know if I would want to fish for smallies anyway. It wouldn't be right, you know kinda like flyfishing or using powerbait. Its unnatural like kissing your sister...[/#800000]

[purple]Dang, we were having technical problems with heater and got kinda wore out on the walk on the snow.[Smile] We weren't sure if you alive when we started whistling as we were leaving. I got concerned until we finally saw you move around. Now, I wish we took the hike over to you. Oh well, it was good meeting you. We thought we had a good day. Good job[/purple]

Glassyeyed Paul snickering over this comment! That's a danged good one! I too have never ice fished jordanelle, and I should give it a try this year.

I've heard rumors that it's much easier to catch largemouths than it is with smallies through the ice. Think that make sense?
