the fun of fishing
#1
hi there I am in California and surf fish orange county. Usually alone but when my daughter comes things usually liven up. Up to now I have been a great supporter of fish health (having fed them bait for 60 years). But when my daughters along things seem to take a more positive light. Like the time she caught a 80 lb guitarfish and I went to grab the beast when suddenly the fish rushed me in the surf. Turned out my daughter fell over laughing watching me. children can be such a asset in your life

Welcome to the site Tim, can't say I've ever heard of a guitarfish, so I had to look it up, they look a lot like a sting rays. A 80 lber sounds like a big one and if they can sting you, I'd say you had good reason to be careful with one. In case you haven't found it already, here is a link to our Cal board:

Welcome aboard and thank you for sharing.

I am also in So Cal. The Guitar fish is also known as the Shovel Nose Sand Shark.

No stingers and no teeth on them. They are mostly bottom feeders and really love a nice piece of squid soaked on the bottom.

It is nice to see that the bigger ones are back. They are fun to catch on light tackle.[fishon]
