Scofield Reservoir in November

Fished Scofield today with a friend. We arrived around 1:00 and stopped around 4:00 pm. We caught 32 fish. All cutthroats from 12-14 inches. Hoping for something to brag about. Like A nice tiger. We trolled at about 20ft depth. Some were caught on the surface with various spoons and Rapalas. Pretty good day for 3 hours, and happy we didn’t catch only chubs,

Things are looking up for Scofield. With the cold water temperatures the chubs don't bother you much.

It's just great to see the water level at 71% full and rising. The decent water levels will help a lot to improve the fishing.[]

First time I’d been up there for 15 years. Kind of stayed away since the chub problem. Looking forward to trying again next year and see how much fish are growing. Could be kind of fun if wipers and tiger Muskie do well? Any secret to catching tiger trout up there? A certain lure etc...??

Nice! We did the same thing today from 1-4. Mostly cutts, 2 rainbows,,no chubs.

The tiger trout population has declined since those couple of years where the state record was broken. I'm sure they are still in there but they are hard to come by.

I only fly fish in a tube so I'm no help on a lure selection but I would guess that a rapala, jakes, or other minnow imitations should work.

If you are after a "wall hanger" tiger trout, you need to start thinking big, much bigger then you think.

I was very good friends with the Washington State Angler that took their state record. He fished a specific "pond" for a long time, seeing some monster fish, but not getting bit. He finally went to a big swim bait, something like what I am attaching, but 6" long, and he caught several in the "record" range.

Small tigers, under 20 inches, will hit any minnow like bait, but the big boys want a real meal, and those big chubs are just about right.
