A friend and I took a drive to Fish Lake on Tues. the 30th to see what ice is like. ( Bit bored around here as I am recovering from shoulder repair wear a sling rather than a coat and am scared of falling messing up shoulder even though I always were cleats.)
The lake still has some open water. There is fishable ice at both ends and tracks could be seen accessing the ice almost all along the highway.
There were people fishing at both ends.
Talked with DNR guys coming off the lake. They were at the N. end and said ice thickness was variable and was 7" where they had fished.
They said they were accessing conditions for the perch tourney and a decision had to be made this week as to whether or not it was a go. I did not ask for info. as to how a person would find out if it had been cancelled or not. I did not think to ask as I have not attended in the past nor had much desire to do so. Sorry to those who would have liked this info.
