Lincoln heat
#1
Fished Lincoln today and caught 20-25 cats. Plan was to arrive before daylight and leave before sunburn. Good to see Ice-Sled show up at the launch with his puddle-jumper. The insurance people were not very generous with his claim but he has found a used boat he hopes to buy. Good, we need him on the water.

I hit the island first and not much going on. Headed back to the flats east of the launch and found lots of hungry cats... all fat and sassy but nothing over 26 inches. Used up all my bait and decided it was getting too hot so headed in. Met Ice-Sled again and he "had a poor day." He only caught 2 or 3 fish but one of them was a 31 1/2 incher. "Poor day"... yea, right. Gotta give him and Ahi credit -- they know how to catch the big ones.

The water in the channel continues to drop... about 2-2.5 feet average.

Maybe next time...[Tongue]

Good to see you again as always. Fishing was very slow for me today. Slower than my last few trips. But I didn’t have any surprises on the way home. Thank goodness. All my fish were caught on white bass. Tried some fresh red sides and chubs but no love. Ready for some fall weather.

When I got there this morning I saw your two rigs in the parking lot. I was glad to see that ice_sled is back in business. I fished in the channel for a while and caught a bullhead. Then Bigcatch30 and his grandson came along and asked if I wanted to go to Bird Island with them in Jim's pontoon boat. I said sure. It turned out to be slow for us, too. I did catch my first two rock bass; the second one must have gone over two pounds! I threw them back. Those guys caught a couple of channels and some bullheads. Oh, and grandson James, caught a ten-pound carp which gave him quite a fight. Grandpa cut him into bait and we tried some chunks before we left, but to no avail. When we had had all the heat we wanted, we headed in at 11. You guys were gone. I decided to try fishing from the bank a little longer to try to catch a channel or two. No luck. I caught a double on bullheads, though. But no love from the big guys today. Oh well, I figure I have to catch about four bullheads per channel so I'm set for next time.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

Don't know if you noticed but I couldn't stand it, so I updated it tonight.... North is still 2.5 points ahead... but it's getting closer... We got a good contest going this year... Later J

Yeah, I saw that last night. One 30.5" fish would tie it up again. GO SOUTH!!

Yup that is true, but a 30.5 on the north with put us two points further ahead, as long as it isn't Ahi that catches it so it doesn't count again... Yup contest is close and there's a lot of chances for the lead to go back and forth, it's not over till it's over this year... Good luck, but not too much.... Later J

Yeah, if you guys would quit raising the bar we would have a better chance to catch up.[mad] But we're at that time in the contest when it's hard to raise the score much at all. You guys won with 306 last year, setting a new high-water mark, and we had a way off year. Now it is so close and high. You're right, guys like Ahi and ice_sled have scored so highly that it is hard for them to get much higher (ha) so we mere mortals have to do our part to get that average up. Thirties are called for but even 29s will help.
