Wiperslayer and I meet up with Jmorfish and his friend to fish RP one last time. I took a 13' ladder just in case and we put it to use when we saw the place T-Boz had gone through the week before. We were fishing by 8am and were back to the truck, ready to leave, right at 2pm. I would not say the catching was fast but we all caught fish with Wiperslayer and Jmorfish having the best luck. No monster perch, biggest was almost 11", most were 8 to 9" and at times were hard to hook, even when holding the rod in your hand. Worms seemed to do better than anything else but eyeballs and perch flesh also produced. We caught them on a variety of lures or jigs. I caught my biggest perch on a perch talker and another on one of TD's glow perch jigs. Not too bad of weather, it started off cloudy with some fog but when that moved out the sun felt nice, later in the morning there was a slight breeze but it wasn't too bad. Saw a bunch of deer and even some elk on the drive home. With the warm weather coming next week, I think it's time to hit Willard again.

Hey you were prepared and you got out and caught some fish, way to go! Once you got on the ice, how thick was it?
We've just been doing some things around the house while we wait for the soft water fishing to return once again (of course we also have a few medical things to take care of as well - but wanting to be ready can be a great motivator to overcome all of it) , which is looking more and more like it won't be too long now.

Thanks Jil, it was nice to get out one last time. Ice was around 16", we did not measure it but it was still solid. With the water raising and warmer weather ahead, it won't last long.

Did you notice if access was equally bad around the res? I wanted to fish that pond this year, but sounds like I waited too long.

It looked about the same all around the lake, only one other guy fishing it and it appeared he got on the ice from the East side. Jmorfish said he was going to try it again on Fri, if he could find someone else that wanted to go.
