After catching 4-7 inch fish all winter, I was ready for a chance to take the boat up to Idaho to chase sturgeon. I invited a couple of newbies from Pleasant Grove to join me. Brothers Jayson and Brock. We left Brigham at 5am, hooks in the water at 9:30, and first fish bites at 10:00. It hit on my pole, so after setting the hook, I handed it off to Brock. Jayson and I cleared the other rods and tossed the anchor rope. 15 minutes later we were measuring a 62 incher at est. weight of 67-74lb. and 20 years old.
11:15 and Jayson lands a 84" beauty. 7 feet of fighting white sturgeon.
The newbies are now hooked themselves. They managed to hook 2 more apiece before allowing one to bite on my rod. a humble 51 incher. We continued to fish until 7pm, stopping briefly for a snack around noon. We ended the day boating 14 sturgeon that were from 4-7 feet long. We said our thanks to the river gods and headed to AJ's cafe and then the hotel.
Day 2 was different in that some of the fish learnd how to tie up our lines around rocks on the bottom forcing us to move the boat upstream and around also. Lines were so frayed as he gained line again that I took a picture of it. We loosened the drag a bit until we gained good line back on the reel. this one measured 90 inches. the biggest of the trip.
At 2pm we headed back to the ramp to come home, we had caught 11 sturgeon. A total of 25 sturgeon, all over 4 feet long and the largest being 7 1/2 feet,40 years old, and weighing 212-227 lbs. as per charts.

This was a great trip that I really appreciate because I have spent 2 1/2 days up there with nothing measured.
