Willard Bay Boat
#1
Yesterday it was slow fishing with only a wiper and some smallmouth on a Ned jig.
Interesting watching other boats and fishermen’s methods. Besides our fish I only saw a bass boat land a carp.

Thanks for the report. Did you by chance see what the water temp is?

The warmest was 65. The inflow is 50. That colder murky inflow reaches a ways out. Bugs are bad at times. There is a very big hatch of larvae both insect and fish. Hard to complete with it.

Glad you got a good pic of us! [Wink]

Wow, your boat looks just like Reelfast's boat, except a little longer and you have an outboard motor. What size is your boat and motor?
I just read on that other thread that your boat is a Weldcraft, they look pretty similar.

Weldcraft 240 maverick, 24' then a extra 2' offshore bracket, 300 hp. Got it used from a guy up in Wyoming 3 years ago. Heck of a deal compared to boat show prices. It is a 2012.

I looked at some weld crafts back when I was shopping. Good product. You looked good with 6 boards. did you get anything? I pull 6 sometimes but a big wiper can gather up lines in a hurry. we opted to bottom bounce and throw jigs. I don't have any pictures on the lake of my boat under way, Might have to find someone to shoot some photos or video sometime.

We managed 1 walleye, lost one at the boat, and missed a second bite. Really slow for us. We will run 8 lines at Willard if there are 4 in the boat. We have had tangles, but not as many as you might think. Wipers usually pull the board back that it clears the other boards. In July, we will have big boards, so that will take some learning. I love fishing also! [fishon]

Best way to go. Using my board plans or buying a commercial set? Run the boards out and space the lines out on the one planer board line with sliding releases. Almost never a tangle and no messing with the boards. Just put on another release and slide it out. Easy Peasy.

I use the Laurvick release clips and have about 30 of them on my boat. Here is a source for them.

Cisco fishing systems reels, amish big boards, who dat tower with Cisco pulleys, Undecided on clips. How do those clips you use work for cranks going fast and then with like a sling blade going kokanee speed. I was leaning towards offshore since I use them on our downriggers. Any suggestions on clips from anyone would be much appreciated! Pros and cons

There is a fellow in Hooper that will custom build you an aluminum tower for around $2,000, give or take. Didn't see a price for the WhoDat on their website. I use a Big Jon mast and it is solid equipment. You could get 2 of their manual reels for less than the cost of one Cisco manual reel. I don't think Big Jon makes electric reels if that's your choice.

[#800000]The Laurvick clips are excellent and hold crank baits that I use with no issues. I've never pulled dodgers with them so can't say, but would think it wouldn't be a problem either.[/#800000]

The reels and planers were ordered 2 months ago. Should be shipped this week. We are doing electric. Trip to Washington July. Already have the tower design completed. We are going to do a couple days of fishing for kings while we are up there, so turning it into our family vacation. Should be nice!
