Strawberry 6/21 and 6/22 Cold Kokanee
#1
We made our annual family trip to the Berry and managed to catch 16 Kokanee and dozens of cuts in 2 days fishing. The weather was cold and windy most of the time we where there with a few breaks both days, the wind started early around 8 am and blew the rest of the day. On Friday we caught 7 near the cliffs directly across from the Marina at 30ft. trying to keep our speed around 1.8, which was tough in the wind. Saturday morning we caught 4 more there between 6am and 8am untill the wind came up and we ran behind Hawes Point where we caught 5 more between 20-25 ft. Pink micro hoochies with a small pink Colorado blade behind a 5 inch pink sling blade was our best set up. As like trolling has mentioned longer leaders seem to be working better, mine where about
16” and my smaller sling blades out performed the larger ones. Over all a good trip, we lost one Easy Up to the wind and only broke one rod tip, stupid Okuma SST rods. The average size is much better compared to the Soldier Creek side we got a couple around 20” most where 16-18” they where all fat and healthy.

3 of us were there Friday left at 8:30
I see boats by Hawes Point but never fish there for kokanee, thinking to many cuts over there

I only fish for Kokanee behind Hawes Point when the wind is ripping it’s not one of my favorite spots but I do get them there and it does get us out of the worst of the wind.

Very nice. That all day wind was certainly no fun.
