Blitz winners
#1
Last Saturday we held our 2nd Annual South Team Catfish Blitz. I was planning to make some recognition for different categories. We got pretty disjointed with the wind and all so we didn't have our debriefing at noon as planned. Now I would like to recognize the winners.

Longest fish: joatmon 27"

Most fish: Pisco and Julie a bunch

Highest average length per group: catchinon and joatmon 25.375"

Highest average length per individual: joatmon 25" and 27"

Most trash picked up: Pisco

Oddest thing picked up: Pisco with an arrow

Longest distance traveled: Tin-Can and TinCansMate

Most generous: ice_sled for contributing a big bag of no-roll sinkers for prizes

Near miss award: Richard and Violet who took their cookies and went home

Intrepid sailor award: Pisco who stared down the wind and went out anyway

Most points added to score: joatmon 52"

Old college try award: Mooseman, Catslayer, and Bigcatch30

Discretion is the better part of valor award: BLK, CatRat, and ice_sled

MVPs: Pisco and joatmon

If anyone has additions, corrections, cheers or jeers please post them here.

I'll get your prizes (sinkers) to you all when we meet up along the way or at the banquet in November

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

Thanks Craig. Wish fishing was better and wind wasn’t so bad and had more time so Brett could have have come out on pontoon but it turned out nice for all I think. Thanks for putting it together.

That is a fun list, thanks for putting it and the event together. I wish I had been able to meet a few more folks, but I'll keep trying.

We never saw the load of trash that Richard and Violet got. It sounded like they worked hard before they took their cookies home[Wink]

We had a pretty good sized bag full. Camp Hostess
unlocked the dumpster for us to get the bag into it. She saw us carrying the bag and came to meet us at the dumpster.

The 37cents we found wasn't quite enough for ice cream.

We thought about leaving the cookies, but we really brought them to share.

We'll call it a tie then. Now where did I put those sinkers?

This is the second year in a row that the wind has been nasty enough to scare part of us off the water. I'll have to do better next year. Maybe we should start at 9:00?

Craig,
If you wait for perfect weather to schedule anything at UL or WB, you may not ever get anything done. 2 of the last 3 Flotillas at Willard had really windy, wet weather. Our Flotilla this past May at LB was great weather, fortunately.

When it's a BFT gathering, we do our best to go anyway, irregardless of the weather. We prepare for bad weather, and we make our decision to launch or not launch after we actually get to the water. If we don't launch due to high winds or rain, we can always sit in our truck and wait a while.
