First duck of the Season!

Hello,

I shot my first duck of the season this morning. Heres what happened.

All I had was 8 goose silhouettes, a duck and goose call, a flag, and my 12 gauge. Thats all. I set up and was waiting for the geese to start flying. Out of nowhere, a single duck came towards my decoys, flying very low. I didnt call or flag or anything. I wasnt even in a blind. I got my gun out, and I fired a single shot To my surprise, I hit it and down it went! I ran over to get it.

So, in a nutshell, No call, no blind, no flagging, but I got a duck.

No, I didn't see anything after I got that one. I actually had to leave right after I got it because I was needed at home.

However, a few days later, Duckslayer and I went out and we got 2 canada geese.

Nice goose, looks like your waterfowl season, got off to a good start. Were you using decoys for the geese?

Yeah. We had a whole lot of decoys out. We called in a pair, and then we took them.
