Went up to strawberry Friday afternoon and stayed until Saturday morning. We took 4 wheelers over to Renegade since the current snow and ice conditions allowed for it. Made it to the fishing spot about 4:30. Drilled a few holes to find the depth the fish were hanging out in and well we drilled 6 holes and never made it to the 4th. Fishing was great from 4:30 to about 9pm. Didn’t matter if you tipped it with minnow or meal worm or not at all they were hungry. We had 3 fish iced in the first 5 minutes of drilling holes. Couldn’t get two poles in the water for the first hour and then you had a hard time keeping two down for the next couple. Slowed down but remained steady until we decided to try and sleep about midnight. Expected to wake up to the similar fishing as we experienced the night before but it was vastly different. Only caught 12 in the morning compared to the 80-100 fish just the night before. Fish were down there they just didn’t want to play.
One thing I’ve never had before at strawberry is we couldn’t get them to take any jig of any size. Most were caught on Ratfinkees or shrimpo’s but nothing took anything over a 1.5” paddle bug or cutter bug. All the big tubes or even larger cutter bugs didn’t catch a fish.
