Tis the season for the hard deck and I was just wondering before I pester Ron about running another ice challenge, whether there is interest in this contest over the winter? I know I always enjoy it, but I need to know if there are more than one of us that want to do it... I suspect if we get at least five that want to do it, it will be worth setting up.. So if you want to have the contest reply to this post in the affirmative and i'll see if I can talk Ron into doing this for us again this year... Who knows with my project wrapping up soon I might even get out and get some prizes rounded up if I'd quit my slacker ways... Anyway let us know... Thanks Jeff

I'm down to get in on a tournament.
Could probably get a few buddies to join as well

Good to have you interested, I'm expecting a few more to chime in, but it may not happen this winter... Keep following the post and the rules are on the Utah Contest Page. It's been a lot of fun in years past, five categories of fish with an overall score, plus categories to focus on.. The fun of the Ice Challenge is it has a lot to do with timing on when you focus on which species so you can fill your brackets, especially with the short ice seasons lately... Anyway hope we get a chance for you to join in the fun... Later Jeff

Jeff, I'm interested. It seems like it was just you and me and a couple of others for the most part last year. Craig is unlikely to participate this winter. I've signed up for the Utah Ice Grand Slam/Game of Inches on the FishDonkey app again this winter. It uses total length of fish (add largest of each in 27 species) rather than categories like the BFT ice challenge. It makes for a good parallel tournament to the BFT Ice Challenge and also offers prizes.
I was going to attach a flyer for the Utah Ice Grand Slam/Game of Inches, but get a suspected phishing warning when I click the "add image to post" button.

Hey Jeff - I'm down for the challenge again this season. Last season was pretty slim for participation but is was fun for those who participated. I can moderate again if we decide we have enough interest to make a go at it.

Hey Brett and Ron, that's probably enough to kick it off and if we pick up a couple more along the way that will make it even more fun. Ron, I'd love it, if you wouldn't mind running the contest again this winter... I think all we'll need is a new label and I'm not so sure we even need to do that, what's your thoughts? Thanks so much guys, glad you guys are into it, I'd hate to get back in my slimmer or perch only habits... I like to have the challenge to keep me trying for something different... Thanks and Ron, let me know what you need from me... Later Jeff

We should try to hit the same ice same day a few times this winter. I'm riding solo with Craig out of commission. I caught a nice tiger trout at Scofield yesterday and was thinking it would be a great start. Darn, I'll have to go fishing again!

Jeff, I think we should have a new placard - just need to change the years?
Not sure I'll make it out this week due to another activity Saturday morning, but typically get out at least once a week.

Okay, I think you're right on the placard... I think Ron updated ours last year and I hope he can do that again for us this year... I think we need to kick things off before we miss too many of those fish your catching on this early ice... I'll see if Ron can do a weekend kick off.... Man it's cold enough this morning that it will start to build some ice, but I see it's warming up again so i won't get too excited... Thanks for the input... Jeff

I'm on it! I plan to have a placard with revised "rules" out by this Friday Dec. 13th. I agree, we should get together for a few trips. Thanks for joining in the fun with me. Stay tuned...

I'll play this year. I always enjoy chasing a good variety of species. Mostly limited to weekend fun, but I'll put together enough trips to make it worth participating. Ring my number if you fellas want a tag along. Starting the contest on Friday the 13th??? Spooky. Lets all hope for plentiful and safe ice.
