Went to bullfrog this last weekend to get after some stripers and it didn't disappoint. After a cold boat ride first thing in the morning we went to work to try to find a active school and in about 10 minutes it was on we stuck with them until about 11 am. The next spot was not as successful but pretty successful headed back around 3 to clean fish. Next day stared out the same but died off a lot earlier. The fishing seemed to be better at our second stop this time. Ended up with 150 for a two day trip. The fish are healthy very few skinny ones. The lake is low but it has been lower. Big thanks to Tube dude for some of his jigging spoons and color schemes.

And frozen fish doesn't last that long even when vacuum sealed. So, I wonder what you would do with that many filets? Not passing judgement of any kind; just wondering.

ON my last trip, we brought 25 home. Those fish lasted my family of five 2 nights. We made "fish nuggets" one night--deep fried with batter--and fish tacos the next. Typically, we invite the whole local family over and have a big meal. If I bring home 50 or more fish, we will have them eaten, without any of them every touching the freezer, in less than a week. My family loves them.
You have to remember that with striper fillets that the red meat needs to be cut off. When I am filleting them and I have a lot of fish to get through, I am somewhat wasteful in the process and the need to be quick. So, 150 striper fillets can end up being quite a bit less meat than 150 walleye fillets (depending on the sizes and health of the fish of course).

I'm not a fan of stripper OR wiper flesh. Haven't eaten any in over 20 years. If forced to take some, I always give it away. I definitely don't waste time taking the red meat off; I let the person taking the meat do that.

To each his own...
....one year, I separated the walleye, crappie, and striper fillets and then added in some store bought tilapia and did my own experiment with the family. I asked everyone to rank their favorite fish. Striper won hands down with crappie coming in second, walleye third, and tilapia from the store last. If I had to choose, I would take the walleye personally because they are easier to fillet and take less time. But, the striper is really good.

My all-time favorite fish to eat is yellow perch. I wouldn't trade it for anything coming out of fresh water and darn few coming out of salt water. I grew up in Michigan and Friday nights in most VFW halls, it was all you eat lake (yellow) perch, french fries, and coleslaw all summer long. Never got tired of it and still think there is nothing better.
