Strawberry 5/8
#1
Since I have not seen any recent Strawberry reports I figured I would give one.  Arrived at 6:15 a.m.  Looks like there was about 8" of new snow.  14 degrees on arrival.  Started the long walk out to my fishing spot.  The walk was difficult, no snow mobile tracks to follow, trudging through snow and, in some spots, slush.   Got a good cardio workout!  Catching was SLOW!  It was my son-in-law's first time to Strawberry, all the stories I had told him about ice fishing there did not come to pass!  45 min to catch the first fish!  He only caught 3, I caught 6, one rainbow, the rest were slot cuts.  Decided to throw in the towel at 11 and come home and get something done.  Thank goodness for some kind fishermen who had snowmobiles!  The bottom of my sled iced up and it was a challenge to pull, this plus the 1 mile walk through the now softening snow, was going to be a challenge.  These 2 great guys gave us rides back to our vehicle!  (Thank you again of one of you are reading this!).  At that time, the group next to us had caught about 10 fish, another guy we talked to in the parking lot had only caught 1 fish.  So I would say the consensus in the area we fished was the catching was SLOW!  Few fish came by and most just looked and left.

Seems that I read that the soldier creek road had been plowed to the dam.  Is that fact or dreaming?  Could a car get in there?

Thanks!

It was a great day to be up there enjoying the beautiful weather. Catch rates are better getting away from the marina area for sure but the slush was definitely worse also. Good to hear you got a lift out as the conditions were tough without sleds or dogs. I also helped a few guys out in some trouble and your post makes me feel a little better than what they experienced (see my post)

The SC road was plowed a week ago Sat when I was up there. Not sure though that it was plowed this weekend with the new snow.
