I am kinda new to the area. And was wondering if I could get some info on cutler dam. Is there bass in there Large or small mouth? The water is always stained so what would you use? And where would you go. ( its pretty big) . I know there are carp and cats in there but not sure if the bass are so any info would be much appercited.

Cutler has LM bass, crappie, bluegill, walleye, channel cat, bullhead cat and carp. Locations I can't help you with since I too am exploring the reservior. Since a lot of the area is soft, silty bottom I would try to find some structure on a firm bottom such as trees, riprap, gravel, etc.

i agree with fishnate... find structure and you will find bass. the problem is the fluctuating water in the lake every night it drops almost 1ft and a half. just look for the styruccture.

Woody, I grew up on the Bear River in Benson. I have not fished that area much for many years but the best places I know for bass are around the Benson Marina area. Where the Logan River comes under the bridge at the marina was a good area. Also on the south side of the road just east of the marina was another good area. I have caught bass in both of these areas. I have also caught bass in some of the sloughs in corner areas next to the bull-rushes, using a fly. And I have caught bass blow the Benson Church in the slough there.
Another area that might be good is around the bridge in Newton. I have never fished it there but I have seen lots of anglers in that area.

if you have a boat put in at newton and go west towards the dam. you need a fish finder most of the time to find it but there is like an old dam or rock road or something just down about 3 feet or so (it's about like half mile or so down from brige) we pick up lots of bass there and some nice eyes and a few crappie when we fish it. hope this helps I know I just made some local guy real mad for letting this spot out. but there are lots more. right guys

hey moose, what do you use on that spot. We were there a couple weeks ago and tried for only a few minutes with jigs but no bites. I chewed up my prop on that road so we headed back.

we use mostly shad raps and jigs. rap colors mostly like fl yellow and perch and for the jigs white or char 3" tiped with a dead gold fish about 2" or 3" long and yes we know about the prop thing thats how we found it the first time
