Boy Ocean;
Lake Powell on Memorial day weekend. Your a braver man than I!
Lets see,, Powell, mini van camping, no boat so its shore fishing only, and in need of a shady spot. And you want to do this on the big knock off weekend.. That sounds like a pretty tall order. However, minus the shade I'd suggest trying Stanton creek. For the most part its fairly easy water access for you and the kids. Plenty of fishing areas as well as camping spots (altho I wouldnt promise you a camp spot close to the water on that weekend unless you head out a week from today).
I spent a 3 day weekend there just about a month ago.. A fair number of smallies, wallies, and c cats in the area.. Never set sight on a Stripe altho' I must admit I wasnt actually shopping for them to much.

Drive-in camping spots are difficult to find these days with the low water, since the roads end a ways from the water. A better alternative is to boat camp. Load your boat up with all your camping gear and take off for a secluded, sandy beach up the canyon of your choice. On Memorial Day, the farther you go the more seclusion you'll find.
Bring your own shade.

I hope you got their tag numbers and are getting money back. You are responsible for any damages your wake makes in Utah. Even better if they were renting the house boat.

Ocean, The Stanton turnoff is just past the pay booths as you enter the park on the left hand side. I hear they have graded all the roads. There is a left fork and a right fork once you get down a ways. To the left is a little more rocky terrain to camp in and less close water access, but better smallmouth fishing. To the right is a little flatter and more right on the beach access. I would go left on this trip just because all the boarders and people that want to camp by thier boats will be going right. If you get there early enough you can wind your way all the way down the finger on the left and find a nice little spot that would be hard for other to crowd you. Be ready for the crowds. Take a port-O-Potty and a spare tent, because depending on where you camp the toilets are quite a hike.

Going to Powell during Memorial Day weekend will be a riot, literally. Plan on getting at least 15 miles away from Bullfrog. Try Good Hope bay up-lake for good fishing and limited jet skis.
