I'ts July and that means the King Salmon have arrived in the Little Manistee river. To find the pools of Kings, hike a bit of the river . Kings move at night traviling hole to hole .
Summer Steelhead are in the Manistee in fair numbers this year. Visit our fly forum for some tips on what to use . The mayfly and hex hatch is just all but a memory by now , don't cha think ?
If your heading to Tippy dam , well theres a few steelhead mixed in with the browns below the dam at the bobber hole.
Now i have heard that during peak hours the walleye and pike are hitting pretty hard too.
Try the big M "Red Bridge Strech" for better brown action.
In September we target "BIG CHINOOK SALMON" in the river . Stormey26 turned me on to this fun last year , i'm hooked for life now -yeee-haaaaa ! I'm taking a few days off come September .
October , Steelhead starting their spawning run . November and December , some fine steelhead fishing indeed .
The upper Manistee around CCC bridge is fishing well right now . I was up that way over the 4th . I'm thinking another trip will be coming up soon . It won't be this weekend , gotta do my bit to make the boss some money . Work , work , work , man that oughta be a dirty word . When is it my turn to hit the lottery ?
The mouth of the river seems to be doing a slowdown , it should turn back up a notch when this heatwave scoots outta here . Belive me i know how those fish feel , when it's hot ya' just don't wanna do a dang thing , well except fish , lol !
