The plans of mice and men.....and the bft bunch !
#1
That's right , our unscheduled plans went haywire !
I got my story and i'm sticking to it !
I recived a P.M. that stormy26 was going to the big M, later after a birage of invites from me I was pretty sure Davetclown was gonna show up at my door , uh , camper door that is . Iwas sure looking forward to meeting you guys .
Well I went in search of stormey on saturday , the fishing where I was at had subsided for the day and it would be the perfect time to drop in to his secluded spot .
talk about a needle in a haystack ! like i was going to take my eyes off any of those huge fish in the river , i dang near walked right off the edge of the bank for a fourteen foot drop to the hospital , LOL !!!!
Stormy , DARNED SAD I DIDN'T GET TO MEET UP WITH YA ' !
I couldn't remember if it was a blue or green back pack or a pick-up or van with a busted grill . I asked a few guys on the river and at the campgrounds , they said a van left just before i arrived , and that a po-up camper pulled out a bit earlier .
awsome fishing spot thou . it was full , some guys pumping lead above the pine tree spot , a few legal guys in the spot and me down below it with one on and a whole lot of logs to loose it in . Did you see the guy with the old green fiberglass boat (river area parking , right next to the path going down )? met him on line last week , one good guy .
i tried this morning to walk it back from the Tippy dam road way and found some really nice holes that were left untouched , silly me thought the fish would run out into the river and not into the brush piles lining the banks ( just before the tunk hole ).
the FLY GUY was camped a couple trailers down from me , he sells all his flys for .75 c a peice , and there all for salmon , steelhead and trouts .
Who is the FLY GUY ? Well he ties flys day and night all year long and sells them to the pro shops , bait stores and to the guy on the river , all over the mit and canada . i bought a coupe dosen from him this weekend , 30 flys for $20.00 !
yea , i tie some of my own , but not as good as he does . it's nothing for him to sit down and pump out a hundred flys in a hour or so . here's his name and address if you want to order some , just tell him what you want or send him a picture and he'll get them done . he dosen't have a phone but chances are you can catch him at the tippy dam road campgrounds once in a while . i'll post there address too .
Jim Bennett , 10621 wyman rd. lake, mi,48632

Tippy dam campgrounds, 17974 old house rd. , wellston , mi.49689
ph.231-848-4448 , tdcc@kaltelnet.net , fax 231-848-4965 .

Well when i returned home today i learned our fearless leader was looking for me at the dam , i'm guessing thou on the other side of the river . dave it woulda been nice to have you there ! plenty of food and a cosy spot in the camper for you ! the jeep was parked on the steps side of the dam , welston , or at the campground off of tippy dam road . i think you were on the brethren side of the river .
i didn't fish friday night , i tied up a coffee can of spawn for an early morning river run and to hopefully last me the weekend , it lasted just barely . i think i have about 30 2-egg sacks , ten or so three egg sacks , 3 or 4 four and five egg sacks and half a dosen 7 egg sacks , various colors of netting . good for about another four hours of fishing . i gotta get busy tieing more before next weekend !!!!
why the different sacks ? those fish are pickey !!!!!!
one hole they hit the 2's and let everything else go by , next hole only a seven will do , so on and so on .
i used a #12 single egg hook for the two's , a #10 for the 3's and #6's and #8's for everything else . when all else failed i started on the flys , dosens of them !!!!!!!!!!
i brought a few fish in but went home fishless , the laws the law , even thou they wern't around . heck the D.N.R. coulda netted a couple million dollers in fines and confiscation of equipment if they just got up off there easy chairs for a couple of days .

i'll cover that in another post .
anyway , we were there , but we missed each other .

lol, I ran in to stormy in my home town yesterday when I was developing my number for and number five master angler award fish pictures....

he told me that he had gotten called to do some youth hunting expiditions and he was on his way to the woods to get setup for first timers deer hunts....

I ended up fishing on the handy cap ramp, I was not prepaired for fishing realy, had more family issues to handle in town and just dropped in for the night. I fished all night.

I figured you may had allready gotten your two day limit and gone home when I got there. I saw a few people with thier limits and going home. (vary few)..

I enjoyed it and would not mind going back again some time. the east side may be my next trip...

with my fith master angler fish allready in the creel I am not to preasured to catch fish and can now enjoy the seanery....

we will hook up evantualy.....

for any one else showing up you will want at least these things.
[ul] [li]a pair of knee rubber boots or waders or boat.[/li] [li]or a long net to reach over the peir to land your fish.[/li][/ul]
its a learning curv, but I am slowly getting there....
