miracle on ice?
#1
took 2 of my boy's over to the farm pond today.. we got there about 1:30 this afternoon fishing was slower than it had been but we did get 8 fish on the ice..

now for the strange part.. my boy was wondering around kind of a air head some times!! lol .. well i looked over at his pole just in time to see it start to go in the hole!! so i jumped up and ran over to the hole and tryed to grab it as it was going down.. had my arm as far down the hole as i could get it and felt the but end of the pole on my finger tips but could not grab it before sank to deep for me to reach.. man my boy was bummed out almost ready to cry.. i ran to my box and grabed the bigest kastmaster in my box tyied it as fast as i could and droped it down the hole.. about 2 min's of hard jiging i felt some drag on the end of the line so i pulled it up to see my boy's line start to come out the hole.. i pulled it up and handed the pole to him and said now get that fish that was still hooked up.. he pulled the fish in and was all Smiles.. now he thinks his dad can do most any thing!! yeah right!! it was lucky that fish did not go any where after it was hooked..

dude on fish?

I had the same thing happen at Kolob. It's a depressing thing to loose any gear but I got my rig back also.

Hey ron sounds like a great day on the ice, and looseing that rod and reel and the retrieval of it made the day one to remember.

Thats great! I'm glad you were able to get your son's rod back. I've had that happen to me a few times. The jordan, scofield, strawberry, utah lake, yaquina bay... I got it back all the times except the yaquina. It wound up being some little snob that jigged it up then wouldn't give it back. Didn't matter, though. After a couple days in salt water that reel was as good as done for.

Way to go, Ron! How much would you charge to do that when I go out? It's off to Fish Lake on Tuesday; I've got friends there now and can't wait to hear from them. I'll let you know how it goes. Maybe you can poke your head in our ice huts if you're up that way between Tuesday and Friday a.m. We may stay a while Friday after we check out at 10:30. We'll be at the big Mackinaw cabin.
