FLAMING GORGE IS FLAMING
#1
Well, much thanks to Sockeyeslayer even though we did not ever hook up or see each other due to bad weather and wind. But we had great fishing. We got to the the gorge last Saturday and had a great day fishing for kokes, lakers and rainbows. We pulled in about 15 kokes and some lakers and rainbows in about 4 hours. We then got blown off the lake. The next couple of days we went after the big boys down deep with jigs and boy did we catch some nice ones. I have a picture of my 28 lb. Big Mac Laker. Wow, what a rush to catch one of these 20 year old fish. I truly believe we should not keep these big fish because it takes them so many years to get that big. Just keep all the 3 - 5 pounders guys, let the big ones go so others can catch them.
Anyway, the fishing was amazing but the weather was not. If only we could have fished all day everyday. Out of 4 days at the gorge we only spent about half the time on the water. Well, we are all dying to get back there. By the way, the kokes are fat and sassy and way fun to catch and wonderful to eat. Hey, Sockeyeslayer, I caught my first koke on a nut and my first fish on a criplelure. Thanks for all the tips. Love the double sling rig. Hope to see you there next time.

What a beauty!!!Congrat's on the Lunker!! I wish that I would have been more accessable to talk to but Gary Miralles and the Doug Miller/crew had me hopping. It was a shame the weather was so bad especially on Thursday which happened to be Doug's filming day what a tough day that was...I am glad to hear that the products are working let me know by way of a P.M. if you need anything else or if you have any question's love to talk with you.. Thanks again for the report...We slayed the kokanee and the underwater Walker Downrigger strike vision camera that I have got was able to get some great Kokes on tape striking my lure's so it was neat to see the way they react.
Thanx again

You should get up there. Where else can you go and catch at least 3 different fish while trolling or jiging? We never knew what was on our line until it got in close. And they are all great eating. Just don't kill and eat the big ones.

We caught about 8 of the big boys with Jim. Yes we did need some aspirin. You better take some yourself and make sure you "focus" or he will kick your butt.

I take it you are talking about Jim Williams? so what are the secret jigs Jim is using? Does he make you sign a pledge of silence in Blood? [Smile] I've seen him out many of times and I'm not sure those guys are having much fun, it kind of looks like alot of pressure to perform!

THE ONLY FUN PEOPLE HAVE ON HIS BOAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY HOOK UP. CALL HIM HE WILL TELL YOU IT IS NOT FUN FISHING IT IS WORK AND WILL DRAIN ONE TO THE POINT OF EXCEDRIN.. BUT HE DOES GET ALOT OF GOOD FISH IN HIS BOAT. CHECK HIS WEB PAGE. ITS ON ONE OF MY OLD POST.

I would'nt give up the secret jigs Jim uses, but start with a 5-6 inch green or motor oil tube jig about 1.5 oz. and keep it within 4 inches of the bottom. Presentation is everything ! The jigs are important but not that important. Jim will be the first to tell you that the same stuff everybody else on the lake is using will work if presented the right wat in the right spot.
I understand that "gofish" is a really good jigger for lakers. P.M. him and I'm sure he'll give you a tip or two.

Good luck.

And good luck to you Eye. I can tell you from 3 times on Jim's boat that it will be the tastiest excedren you've ever eaten.

Well, I disagree. I fished with him a couple of days last July and I thought it was fun, even though my fishing buddies were the only ones who landed any fish those days. He is intense, but I sure learned a lot.

Caughtmydink is right. It isn't so much that he has the secret jig as he knows how to present it and not run off the fish. Slow and on the bottom and make it look like a fish eating the mud or a crayfish moving slow and you will probably have success. Anyway, I am not a fan of people who come off full of themselves and so intense that fishing is no longer fun. Thats not what fishing is all about. Go out and have fun and maybe you will catch one and maybe you won't but you are still fishing.[Smile]

I'VE BEEN DOING THE INTENSE 120% FOCUSED JIG FISHING FOR MACKS FOR 14 YEARS. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I CAN'T THINK OF A BETTER WAY TO SPEND MY FISHING TIME. IT IS VERY ADDICTING. LEARN THE PRESENTATION AND THE LOCATION OF THE FISH AND YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL. HALF THE FUN IS TRYING TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE THEIR FOOD BUT IS JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN THE NEXT GUY. A GOOD MAJORITY OF THE TIME, THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THE PRESENTATION.

I WAS NOT GIVING HIM CRAP. ONLY SHARED WHAT IVE HERD. HE SEEMS LIKE A NICE GUY FROM HIS POST IVE SEEN HERE ON THE BOARD. DISSING JIM BY NAME WASNT TO NICE OF HIM. BUT I UNDERSTAND THE ANOMSSITY BETWEEN THE TWO. IF HE DOES FISH ALONE HE HAS NOTHING TO WARY ABOUT JUST AS YOU HAVE SAID. I DONT REALY CARE IF HE GUIDES OR NOT. THE GUIDES ON THE GORGE SEEM TO HAVE IT IN FOR HIM THOUGH. I TALKED TO THREE DIFFERNT ONES A COUPLE WEEKS BACK AND NONE PRASED KNOWING HIM. BUT THEY ALL ARE WATCHING HIM CLOSE. JIM SEEMED LIKE A GREAT GUIDE THAT CARES ALOT ABOUT HIS CLIENTS SUCCESS MOORE THAN THEIR FEELINGS. THIS MIGHT AGITATE SOME PEOPLE BUT IF IM PAYING MY $$$,S I WANT SOME ONE WHO CARES IF I CATCH FISH AND IS WILLING TO POUND HOME HIS TEACHINGS. I GUIDE PEOPLE SOME TIMES FOR FREE ON MY HUNNY HOLES FOR BIG BROWNS. IF THAT IS WHAT HE IS DOING I SAY HELL YES SHARE THE WELTH OF FISHING SKILLS AND KNOLLAGE. I THINK NO I KNOW ALOT OF US HERE ON BFT DO FOR OTHERS WE MEET HERE OR OTHER PLACES. THATS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE THAT THE WAY IT IS.... TAKE CARE AND SOLID SETS.
