Hello everyone,
I was noticing that there are no posts about fly fishing in the forums. At least none that I can find. (except the one where the guy caught the tiger on a fly). Just curious if any of you do fly fish.

In my experience with the Utah group, I have found that the majority of the active "posters" are those who fish from tubes, toons, and boats and usually chasing fish at Utah Lake, Pineview, Strawberry, Jordanelle, or Willard. Flyfishing reports are few and far between.
I just recently learned how to flyfish, however, and enjoy flyfishing at Mill Hollow Reservoir. Today I fished both the reservoir and the outlet with a fly rod.
I did very well from shore at the reservoir with a Griffith's gnat and a ribbed hare's ear. The brookied in the outlet were finicky but took the occasional dry fly. I noticed the tiger trout up there have grown well this year. Saw several tigers pulled out in the 11-12 inch range. Last year everything I saw was under 8 inches.

I fly fish form time to time. Used to fly fish exclusively. But I tend to fish one way, for one species for a while then move on to something else. But any given weekend I might end up breaking out the fly rods.

Hey Flycasting,
I fly fish quite often. I also do just about every other kind of fishing. I have found that many/most of the anglers here on BFT that I have met also fly fish on occasion. However, your observation is correct. It seems like the majority of posting on this forum is about the other kinds of fishing.
P.S. If you are looking for a fly fishing companion to accompany you at some time, send me a PM and let's hook up. I especially like smaller streams but, I'll do rivers as well.

I too use to be a avid flyfisherman. My 2 flyfishing buddies (My Dad and Grandpa) have passed away and I have kind of got out of it for a while. I love fishing stream with a fly and also from my tube. I have use to tie my own flys and the whole works. I have been thinking about introducing this art to my two boys and maybe getting back into it.

There are a lot of expert fly fishers on this board! when you have a question about it you will get a lot of good info.
There have been a bunch of posts on the subject here and I would suspect even more than there is on the general fly fishing board.

Todd,
I love to fly fish. Up to this year I pretty much fly fished exclusively. I still love to fly fish the ogden, southfork, blacksmith fork, and logan when I get the chance. I have found that there are quite a few knowledgable people onthe ''board''.

HFT is right about the knowledge of some of the members and their willingness to help if you have any questions about fly fishing. There aren't many posts about fly fishing but I received a lot of helpful advice when I had a question about a new flyrod and what to use in the Uintas last year. Some chose to PM me the information but I was very glad to get it. Wouldn't have had the right fly to try Thursday without the help from last year. (just posted under south side of the uintas.) Sometimes you have to ask but someone has always been able to help me.

I love fly fishing and do so exculsivly for trout now. I hit the South Fork of the Ogden, Ogden and Weber. I have a pattern that kills the browns on the SF and have great luck on the weber. I am really chomping at the bit waiting for October. Great time to hit the water. When everyone is up chasing deer and nailing two pointers, I am alone on the SF and weber hauling in 20+ browns. If you need help or someone to tag along, PM me as well.
