Last 2 times i have hit the berry i have been skunked from shore! We went to the soldier creek dam because of all the dads we have caught there before.[pirate]But didnt even get enough for a meal! [Tongue] The kids lost the trap so they went to hot dogs on a string but they kept catching the smaller dads so they kept releasing them.I threw out some minows and powerbait and no hits. Not even a fish jumped all day! I saw 1 fish caught but it was a small one.We stopped at deer creek and fished till about dark and nothing there either! There were no boats even close to the area we were fishing so i figured we might get a bite. Not even that! At least there was no skeeters there and it was a beautiful evening. So we stopped and got pizza and chinese food to make us feel better. [Wink] And it worked !There is nothing like going to bed with a full stomach.[sly]

I feel the pain Bro.

Schofield sprayed me with skunk.

I think the main reason for all the skunk is because of the Full Moon... just my thought though.

[#505000]Don't feel bad Ocean. I am of the opinion that Strawberry is a cursed body of water. I've fished it twice, and was skunked once, but the trip I didn't get skunked was none too impressive. [Tongue][/#505000]

[#505000]I would much rather fish Scofield. Much smaller fish as a general rule, but I can always cath them. I have never left Scofield without a big Smile. [/#505000]

You would have better luck if you fished it at ice off or late fall . There are fish there at the dam , just need to figure what they want and when they want it . Heat of summer can be slow fishing .

[cool]Hey Cesar, that sucks about getting skunked at the berry. The fishing (even shore fishing) will pick up there in about a month clear on through till ice-up in early December. You should be able to nail them with red sided shiners. This time of year, if you are shore fishing it seems that early morning or just before dark is best.

As for the Crawdads, I think that area by the dam gets worked a lot, but you'd still do better next time there with RAW CHICKEN LEGS (drumsticks). Tie a little cord about 15 feet long to each one and use a butterfly net right behind the drum stick, and once you have about two or three on the drumstick, very slowly drag the chicken leg to the net and scooper up! Also having traps in the water at the same time (with raw chicken leg inside) maximizes your efficiency with them. Good luck next time.

[cool]Thanks for the tip, Crossineyes! I've never fished the ladders (stupid me) but have always heard good things about that area. I'll have to go float that area within the next month!
