Water gin clear; 61 degrees; 907.28' (2' Low)
The fall migration and feeding frenzy is in full swing. Both
largemouth and smallies have moved from deeper mainlake
points into shallower water where they are aggressively
chasing and gorging on baitfish in pockets at the back of
bays and mouth of feeder creeks. The numbers of, and size
of bass, coming to the boat have increased with the cool down in water temperatures. Likely areas are flats with stickups, stumps and laydowns in 2'-8' which are being used as ambush points.
Largemouth are very good to 6.5 lbs. power fishing white
Terminator "tungsten" spinnerbaits, Daiquiri JDC Skip-N-Pop
topwater poppers, Texas rigged watermelon/chartreuse Big
Pigs. A Daiquiri-Blk. JDC Gibroni* rigged wacky style on a 3/0 'K' Wacky Hook (from Falcon Lures) and pitching pump.-brn Terminator finesse jig are productive "follow-up" lures for those missed or short strikes in heavy cover.
Smallmouth are good to 4 lbs. and getting better since the water has cooled and stabilized in 4'-12' burning a 1/4 oz. Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Trap shallow, small profile white Terminator 'tungsten' spinnerbaits, root-beer JDC Strike Grub on jigheads & pumpkin Devil's Tongues on split shot rigs along ledges.
Stripers are improving - early A.M. activity on 3" Spoiler Shads, Zara Spook Juniors if you run across surface action and jigging silver or blue Pirk Minnows and white bucktails with plastic trailers when the topwater action subsides.
