[blue]Went to Bountiful Pond this morning after work to relax a bit. The wind was blowing all morning and the pond was just stocked this morning with trout but no one caught a trout at all. For it to be as windy as it was the pond was full. So after about 3 hours of fishing for trout i switched to carp.I used what was left of my Egg McMuffin from MacDonalds (the dough) and only caught this little fellow. (pic below)[/blue]

Did you try your toon out at all? That carp would make nice kitty bait down at Utah Lake!

I went out to the pond this evening around five but couldn't fish because of the wind. man was it blowing hard! I'll have to go back and try it next week. I've fished for trout a lot but never for carp, would someone explain it to me. What is the method? thanks for the help.
I love going down to bountiful just because every time you go you get to see ducks and geese flying around everywere.

[cool][#0000ff]Carp will hit crawlers but are more vegetarian. Doughballs or wadded up bread work well for them. One of the best baits is a thick dough of crushed saltine crackers, made with either water or milk.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]There are jillions of recipes for carp baits online. Many of them include using artificial fruit flavors and other exotic stuff. Usually not needed.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You can't use corn, which is a good bait, but you can use green peas. They work. Some guys go up to the inlet and gather the green moss there and use it for bait. Another bait that works for trout and carp is Velveeta.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Carp are not pushovers. They can be tough to catch. Cover the hook and watch for light twitches on the line. They usually suck in the bait and munch on it, rather than smacking it like trout or bass. Sometimes they just grab and go and can take your rod if you aren't watching it.[/#0000ff]
