Streams and lakes near the Boulders next week
#1
A friend and I are off to do some red rockin', slot canyonin', and fishin' down that away, leaving Tues. and returning Friday. Any idea how things have been? I've seen a few reports saying the end of August was good for 10-14" rainbows and cutts near Tropic and Pine Lake. I'd like to try some streams and maybe lakes like McGath, Barker Res., and the North Creek Lakes. The brookies (and, not to mention the aspen, oak, and maples) should be in their autumn colors and gorging themselves for winter. Thanks for any and all info!! I'll try to take some pictures and give a report back next weekend.

I'm back in one piece; the wind didn't send me to Arizona!! Lots of wind and temps in the 60's. Hit Posey Lake on Wednesday and it was snowing like crazy with temps in the 30's and the wind about the same. Weeds, moss and ducks everywhere. Went to the disabled accessible dock and caught one nice 15" rainbow on a gold/red dot Jakes. Couldn't feel my fingers anymore so we quit.

On the way home yesterday, Friday, we went to Pine Lake north of Bryce at about 1:00. Couldn't keep them off the same Jakes. Caught 9 fat 2-3# rainbows and one 15" cutt from the dam. Lots of weeds and growth there, too. It was a challenge to reel in 3# of fish with 3# of weeds!!! Beautiful country with relatively easy access and a nice campground, also. Sorry - no pictures - my hands were too cold there, too. I did have some gloves but they didn't help much.
