I got a "training day" at work today, and decided I would train up on catching fish and try out my new ODC 420 -- (much better than my gunnison I must say)
The newsman said that it would get to 70 today so I layered up and decided to break some ice. I went to the local city lake as it had open water slightly bigger than the local city pool or my bathtub.
All in all it was a pretty nice day. I caught about 5 trout and busted up about 50 yards of thin ice. 3 of the 5 came at about lunch time, when my wife was delivering Subway.
Sorry for the sucky pictures, my picture taking skills are about the same as my fishing -- marginal at best. [

I stayed warm, focused on the feet, hands and face like everyone has mentioned. Those appendages stayed nice and warm, however -- no one ever mentioned that cold water tubing can lead to a chilly rear end. I will be looking for some padded poly unders next year [
