TIBBLE
#1
[#00bf00]After a very busy weekend, we needed a break, so we went back up to Tibble (close and we have a pass[cool])[/#00bf00]
[#00bf00]When we got there, there was a slight breeze with a few shorers scattered out, plus one canoe on the water.[/#00bf00]
[#00bf00]We got the H3's loaded up and hauled them down to the water.[/#00bf00]
[#00bf00]I had an intermediate WF4I on my Lamiglass and a WF3F on my Shelbyville. I started off with the intermediate and a purple/black Gartside Softhackle with a red Pheasantail dropper. Had one good hit, and being impatiant, I switched flies to a Hot Chocolate #12 (basically, a small woolly bugger in Brown and Black) with a beadhead Prince.[/#00bf00]
[#00bf00][/#00bf00]
[#00bf00]They really liked that Hot Chocolate. I kicked over to the dam area and threw out a Royal Wulff with about 2 foot dropper with a Copper Tea Kettle (a small Brown Chironomid with a copper bead and copper rib) on my dry. Caught a bunch on both.[/#00bf00]

[#800040]I did take my Sonar and I can tell you that about 50 ft of the shore by that parking lot, it drops off to 15'. The other side runs about 18' and the closer to the dam it gets deeper. In the area around the dam it is 23' to 30'. Kinda fun seeing what the bottom looks like.[/#800040]

Great looking little fish you were catching. Looks like a pretty decent day even though it was overcast and gray.

Looks like a great way to take a break. I hope to do the same in the morning. Was going to take a few spinners but might just break out the flyrod. Any part of the lake worth spending more time on then. I've always wanted to map it with the finder so I'll be moving all over but might take my time getting somewhere if you had any tipps. Thanks.

[#bf0060]I would say anywhere on the side of the dam, because it is such a great drop off, but I always like right at the inlet (right under the little bridge.[/#bf0060]
[#bf0060]The best overall spot is on the side of the dam about half way down that shore line. There is a break where the ground in more level and a clearing. In fact I think there is a rod holder stick still stuck in the water there from last year[cool].[/#bf0060]
[#bf0060]Seems like the brown and the trout bunch up there.[/#bf0060]

O I love that lake. I can't buy a fish on it for anything. Never have. My brother and I had it all to ourselves until almost ten and I still couldn't buy a bite. Flies, salmon eggs, spinners the works. Nothing but a nice float. Still has to be one of the prettiest canyon and lake in the state but it hates me for some reason.

I'm wondering how do u know which lakes allows tubing. Who and how do u ask to get the right answers? I tried to ask the Illinois DNR about that but they don't seem to have much info in that area.
I sent an email to Dale Bowman of the Chicago SunTimes and radio show, here is his and my notes:
[blue]Ralph[/blue]
[blue]As you already know, Mazonia is the area's most favorite for belly boating.[/blue]
[blue]Be careful or doublecheck local regs on forest preserve lakes. For some reason, most counties seem to frown on it. So you're better off sticking with state sites or if you have access, private ponds and local ponds. I know one guy who does it in the Kankakee River, though I'm not sure that is something I would recommend to most people.[/blue]
[blue]If I get the time over the next couple days, I'll try to get some more specifics from the state.

[indent] [blue]Of any lakes the would allow belly tubing for fishing around Illinois? I did ask the DNR and they kinda point me all over but not making anything clear. I know Maziona allows it and that's the only place I go to but would love to try all other lakes anywhere in Illinois.[/blue] [blue] [/blue] [blue]Ralph Morris[/blue] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [black]BTW that photo of the lake and mountians is a pretty area to be tubing!![/black][/indent]

I can't help you there. Our Utah Proc is pretty clear on what's what. Sometimes the proc is hard to read but they have a section for motors listed which is nice.
