What's it worth??
#1
Just a general question for the fisherman & fisherladies?

The wife works at a place that deals with clients that fish. She tells them our storys of successful kokanee fishing at the Gorge.

Well these one clients really want to know every detail of my technique (depth, location, presentation, especially lures, etc.)

It has taken me many trips, many lures, new equipment, and mucho $$ to finally target the larger Kokanee with positive results.

I have to admit I have stumbled onto a technique that has been very productive and I have been paying my dues.

I have read many articles and surfed the internet researching for hours and hours. Of course I am learning more with every outing.

To my wife's credit she will only tell them what I send her in emails - which is what is posted on this forum and plus the BFT link.

Well these clients had a experienced kokanee fisherman take them out for 4 days last week and they only caught smaller kokanee. They had a good trip but didn't catch any 18" (+) fish.

So here's my question - What would you "charge/barter" these guys for your knowledge? What's my knowledge worth.

I am considering trading the info for a elk hunt - Sound Good?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless your a licensed guide,I don't think that you could actually charge them anything.I know exactly where your coming from.I get asked all the time about how to catch bigger kokes on the gorge.Over the years I have devolved a standard answer,as it has taken me many hours on the lake to learn what I know.

I really don't have a answer to your question,I guess everyone has their own answers as to they would handle this.

I wouldn't sell it. Trade, maybe but don't cheapen your knowledge by putting a price tag on it.

BARTER THEIR BEST OPEN BULL SPOT OR MULE DEER HUNNY HOLE. THE LOOK THEY GIVE WILL RESEBLE THE ONE YOU GIVE WHEN THEY ASK YOUR SECRETS. LOL THATS ALWAYS AMUSING. BUT A GUDED ELK HUNT WOULD ALSO BE A GREAT TRADE. OR WRITE A HOW TO BOOK AND SELL IT TO THEM WITH THE BOOK RIGHTS. FOR SAY 100, GRAND. NEVER KNOW WHAT COULD COME OUT OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

Dont get money involved. Thats when many problems will come your way. In many diffrent forms.

Now, You sharing with them what you know for what they know for big game, In my book, Whole diffrent story. Two friends sharing their talents, Knowledge and wisdom about hunting and fishing.

I would say you could do well with this little trade.

I would set my sights on a great mule deer hunt. Each year a persons chance for them gets a little less due to loss of habitat and Predetors. OR elk is a close 2nd. You wont go wrong with either one
