Great day Jordanelle

Well I haven't seen any posts on the Nell so I headed up there this morning....

Got on the water around 7 or so and just went looking at new spots, the water is dropping fast now that Deer creek has reached the conservation pool...

It looks like the water has dropped about 2' sense monday and is dropping 6" per day...

I went looking for perch with my finder and could see lots of fish so I dropped down and got not a perch but a nice 18" bass after 3 drops and three nice bass, on my fourth or fifth drop I got two on at the same time one was a 20 1/2" and the other was 21 3/4" and the biggest double I have ever got at once.....

[#0000ff]It seems like the larger smallies are patterning on bigger perch now. When I caught them at the PWC ramp area the other day we had several big bass follow up the small perch when we reeled them in. They are putting on the feed bag for winter and evidently want larger meals than the little young perch fry.[/#0000ff]

Thats what I have found as well, I don't know if I like this two poles at one time I lost a pole yesterday when a boat wake hit when fighting a fish on one pole and trying to hold the other with a fish on it....

What I called that boater was not nice at all...

And the bad part was that when I got up to see what boat it was all I could see was the back of it going away...

[cool][#0000ff]Even though I have a great setup on my tube for fishing two rods at once, I have found that I do better if I just fish one...and pay close attention to it. That is often true even if I fish bait rather than lures. With only one rod in my hand I can work the lure/bait better and be more aware of the finesse bites those big fish sometimes do. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Last Tuesday, I was vertical jigging and many of the larger fish hit on the drop. If I was not paying attention, I would have completely missed a lot of bites. You know how it is with bass. They do not always hit like freight trains. I set the hook anytime something is "different". HOOK SETS ARE FREE.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Sorry about the lost rod. No matter how much or how little we have to spend to put an outfit together, it is always painful (and aggravating) to lose tackle over the side...especially because of some idiot. You know how those boaters are. Oh yeah, you are one.[/#0000ff]

I was trying two different lures at once to see witch one worked better and putting them down at the same time seemed like a good idea at the time....

In 4 tries I had 4 double hookup, it was on the fourth try that it happened, oh well I just hope the fish can throw the hook now I will be dragging that area when I go up there soon....

[cool][#0000ff]That fish probably took your rod and reel back to the central display area where big fish bring all the tackle they steal from fishermen. It will just go into the pile, along with the other stuff they get away with.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]At least it is fun to imagine they do that.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Two of the fish I got last Tuesday had pieces of line trailing out of their mouths...but I think they were breakoffs and not the result of anglers cutting them loose. Both had hooks deep, probably from worm dunking bank tanglers. I just clipped the line close to their mouths before releasing them.[/#0000ff]
