Flycastin and I hit the river about 2:00 this afternoon. We fished the canyon with rapalas and caught about 20 between the two of us. They all ranged from 10-16 inches, but are looking very healthy.
Flycastin just about got run over by a moose that didn't like us in his part of the river. All in all it was a good fishing trip for the couple of hours we were there. See the pics below.

We tried several different Rapalas. Floaters mostly, but we also caught several on Husky Jerks, which are suspenders.

Floaters work the best in the low water conditions. The rapala in the inline picture had a custom paint job by Flycastin's pops. Seemed to work pretty well until it magically disappeared of the end of Flycastin's line. [crazy]

That moose is freaky.....a moose attacked and seriously injured a hiker a couple years ago......that makes me kinda nervous. How are the pulloffs? Parkable?

Most of the pull-offs are clear. The thing that really sucks is trying to walk up the road. There are no shoulders on the road so you pretty much have to walk in one lane of traffic and pray that you don't get killed. We stayed off the road as much as possible.

Nice little river browns. Glad the moose didn't get the best of you. Just a couple weeks ago a guy up on the south fork got stomped pretty bad while up running his dogs for cougar. Broke his shoulder up. He got lucky it didn't kill him.

Thanks for the details, yeah, I usually just try to wade upstream but sometimes you do have to get on the road. Those drivers are crazy there too. Be careful.

I love the Ogden River. Can't go wrong with rapala's. Thats all i usually use on the ogden. sometimes you can catch a pretty good size brown. After you get thru the little ones. My biggest brown came from the ogden with a rapala 4 pounds. back in high school we would walk and fish from rainbow gardens to the oaks. I have never seen a moose on that stretch of river. good job. Cool! Did you fish the same stretch that Tyler and I fish? Tyler and I used to flyfish the Ogden a little (Tyler a lot more than me). But the size of the fish sucked on fly rods and it took a lot longer to catch fish.
I like fishing Raps because you can fish for an hour and catch 30+ fish on a good day. It's really easy to get to really "hard to get to" places where the big boys hang out. We have caught several browns over 5 pounds on the Ogden with some going 7 and 8 and Tyler even caught a 10 pounder a long time ago. The size of the fish are a lot smaller since the kill off, but fishin is alway still pretty hot.

P.M me next time you guys go. I would like to join if that is ok. I have seen a 10 pound brown just on a guess maybe bigger. This guy was down below the rainbow bridge that is no longer in use. I came around the bend. He pulled his stringer up and i thought he had a lot of fish but when i got closer it was only 1 brown. He told me he thought it weighed 4 pounds. I said way in hell it was 4 pounds try at least 8 to 10 pounds. He also caught that on a rapala. That is my story of a 10 pound ogden brown. Pineviewfisher
