Ever fished with a Tennessean?
#1
Ladies and gentlemen. Great forum! Have the privilege of visiting your fine state in a couple of weeks and am SO excited to get back on some of your precious waters. That being said, I've only fished the Provo once and it was very brief. This time I'm going to have a few days and would LOVE the opportunity to wet a line with some of the 'trout bumb' locals. Please contact me if you or someone you know could help me to assure some tug-o-war matches with some of your infamous browns! Thanks!

My favorite fly flinging buddy is from Tenn. He lives in Atlanta now, but lived here for 6 years and rented from me for 4.

The Provo is a long river for these parts, where did you fish? Provo to Deer Creek? Deer Creek to Jordenelle? Above Jordenelle?

This time of year you will be better to fish below the resiviors as they will be filling them and releasing very little water. This will make the areas close to the dam fishable. Farther down from the dam after a few streams come in the water will be higher and discolored.
Standard stonefly patterns will work great and maybe some crominids, gnats or BWO in the afternoon.

Yeah I fished the dam the last time I was up there. Looks like I'll be giving it another shot. Thanks for the response Troll!

Not only do I fish with a Tennessean at least weekly, I have the pleasure of sleeping with one nightly. I've been married to a gal from the Knoxville area for over 8 years.

But so far I have been able to keep the desirability of matrimony to a southern belle under wraps. You might want to help me keep it quiet, these guys out here still think of a gal from out here as good marrying material. If they find out the truth, you southern boys might find yourselves with a little more competition.

Good luck on your upcoming trip. Personally I am trying to find the time to get back to the Smokies again this summer.
