Strawberry 6-7 to 9
#1
Camped up at Strawberry Bay Friday night (6th) and left at noon on Monday (9th).
Wind on Friday did not even launch boat. Woke up to 2" of snow Saturday AM. Sun came out and warmed up about noon enough to go out. Out about an hour and breeze came up. Impossible to control boat, tried drifting but moved to fast, no drift sock and we only caught one 18" cut. Sunday AM I went out about 0700 to ladders and was calm but brrrr. Tossed some lures, bottom with everything from power bait to worms with different rigs with one puny bite and then, you guessed it, wind which prevented us from doing anything but cruise around the marina bay until it chilled us. Monday AM went to the Strawberry outlet and fished off bottom and caught a nice 22" cut jigging the bottom, let him go. No more hits so started trolling back to marina. Caught 2 more cuts both about 16" one on a mepps black and yellow at 20' behind my downrigger by 75' and the other on a lead core out four colors trolling medium cow bells trailed with a worm.

Oh and you guessed it, the wind came up at about 1100 and that is when my wife and I decided to pick up and move. Was going to go to either Jordenelle or EC but the wind was relentless in both places.

Water temp was a chilly 41F.

Sounds like a tough weekend. We did alright the weekend before and the weather was beautiful. Going to give it another try this Saturday.

Cruised around the island through the narrows but the shadow was on the water by then and we were so cold we just gave it up and went back in.

You have a great blog.

It was sooo cold at Strawberry last Sunday that I was in FIVE top layers all day (OK, I chill easily).

Went home and slept in fleece I was so chilled.

Most everyone was bundled up all day. And there was barely a cloud in the sky.

I had water temp pegged at 43-44, BTW.

Fishin was fair...
