Decided to go to Soldier Creek for the first time this summer and see if we remembered how to catch Kokanee. Got on the lake about 8:00. Fished for about two hours without any luck. Then finally found where they seemed to be and what they wanted. We got eight in the boat with several quick releases at the net. Most were good size with only one small one that was really hooked so we kept it. Also caught our share of rainbow and cutthroat. Were off the lake by 3:00. It was windy but not really too bad. Orange seemed to be the color of the day. Looks like the smoker will be working today. This is the first time we've got a limit on kokas. A great day.

We were in the 50 to 65 foot range for depth. We trolled into the narrows along the edge and then back out. We stayed in the same general area all day.

How... odd!
We were up there yesterday, couldnt catch a koke under 27'! 20-27' is where we hooked up. The only fish we caught deeper were rainbows... all the way down to 50'.
At 10am it was like someone flipped a switch and we didnt get another bite. Tried by the dam, the east edge, then over into the narrows where you guys were.

We caught all of the kokes on an orange apex with a
sling blade dodger in nickle and pink. We started tipping the hook with a gulp maggot in pink and that seemed to help.
