I am looking into fishing a variety of fish instead of just trout. I dont know why but I want to catch all kinds of fish that we have in the area. So I asked about grayling and now Carp. I know Blackfoot res. has some monster carp but it is quite a drive and it is more of a day trip then an afternoon trip or morning trip. Is there any places with in an hour of Idaho Falls that has some? SOrry I have lived here my whole life and have fished mainly the Snake and the Drybed, so kind of secluded in my little world.

There are carp in the snake between Shelley and american falls . This is going to sound crazy but carp love strawberry . I take strawberry jellow and mix river water with it in a small bottle , then fill a worm blower full of the liquid and inject it into a night crawler , carp love this . find a spot in the river with some dead water . good luck Curt G.

Just about anywhere on the Snake you can catch carp. American Falls Res also has tons of carp. If you are up for a drive, right below the Blackfoot Res Dam on the river are tons of carp also. Nice 30lbs+ there if you want a real fight. The resevoir had lots of large carp also.

I am going to have to check out the river there by shelley and I really really need to go to the blackfoot res. under the dam, I want to really catch some nice ones. Just maybe because I will never get to fish bone fish and I hear the carp are the freshwater version plus with size. Thanks I really appericate the help. Ill take pics if and when I get to go. Dustin

I was talking to a guy today that said his son has been bow fishing for carp at the lower power plant (Sunnyside) in Idaho Falls. Said he just walks the banks and there are tons of carp right by the shore he's shot some real hogs there.

I never would have guessed there. II have to give that a try on a nice calm day. I also want to shoot them but I think the fight would be alot better on my 8 weight.
