I fished "the box" all weekend. Fishing was fair not the best not the worst. I did happen to catch close to about 30 fish over two days mostly in the 14-17 inch range. The most effective way seemed to be a small midge in olive or red. There are alot of pmds on the water but didnt seem to to entise many trout to rise, unless you spot fished them and seeked them out. Streamers such as zonkers seemed to work well my younger brother had quite a few hit his espesially down the river towards last chance. BRING YOUR A GAME fishing pressure has been off the hook all summer. talked to many who had no hits or one or two all weekend.

Thanks for the report. I will be there the 23rd for about 5 days and may try it there as well as a few others. We usually try the Madison for the big Browns heading out of Hebgen. Sometimes great if the weather cools enough.

They have the wier up this year (below the Barn's Hole I think) and you may be able to get some information about how many fish have moved up. This may also concentrate the fish in the half mile or so below the weir as it will slow down the upstream movement of fish. It was cold in W. Yellowstone when I was there a couple of weeks ago. I expect fish to start moving early this year. Good luck up there. This is a great time to go.
