----It can also be a dirty job at times and someone has to do it I know. A more than serious set of responsibilities and someone also has to carry the IGFA Rule book and keep our "stand up Team" motivated! So that means it's work. ---

Well, a few large cans of Foster's might be in order, Steve...you know, some weight to hold the pages flat on the IGFA rule book...and a few replacements in case one or two should fall overboard or otherwise disappear... Jerry that is a brilliant idea.

Clearly I had been think too responsibly and forgotten that dehydration will be a major risk factor while I am working flat out as the team leader.

Hell, Am I glad you mentioned the need for liquid weight. Although, I think they might need to be Bud's or Millers.

The beer down here it too potent to take out on a boat! Well the count down is on.

9 days to go before we leave for the Western Pacific and I am like a pit bull on a short chain and the links are well stretched..

Not enough hours in the day, tackle everywhere expect in the tackle box, mental list as long as a toilet role, and several rod tubes to pack.

Have not even thought about clothes yet. Even so, all that will come together as the final days go by. 2 years in the planning, as many days dreaming of that cobalt water, team members are all kitted out, and we are just about set for some hot fishing.

Have also added in another secret weapon. A home made CD Rom fish teaser. Yep, hand selected CD roms so that we can educate the fish via Grolliers Encylopedia, or have them approach our lures with the knowledge that the Rolling Stones live on, as they come up to the strike.

Add six squillion lures, jigs and other tackle to the picture and were just about set. Away from 20 August until 1 September by the way.

So as they days count down and I switch off the light before going out the door, I will hand over the board to Jerry V, and other board moderator's, to care take the place while I am away.

May even be able to drop in an update from the competition.

Hey that would be fun.... Î can hear those jet engines already.

P.S. Keep your eyes peeled for the September issue of Marlin Magazine. They are reviewing our new "Billy Baitfish Lures" for Sailfish, Swordfish, Striped Marlin and their mates.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com

Did you think I had quit? No way!

Just a brief note to let you all know that I am taking a well earnt holiday mid August and will be away 14-28th. I will let you know shortly about who will be moderating the board while I am away.

But this won't just be a holiday, I want to make that real clear... I have to work as well while I am away. Were off to fish a low level tourny in the Western Pacific first before I can really relax and get a sun tan.

http://www.demonjigs.com/samoacomp.html

So over the next few weeks I will be gathering the work tools together (rods, reels, pretest, momoi leader, crimps, swaging tools, lures, jigs, skirts, hooks, long sleeve team polo's, 6 gallons of sun block and more) in preparation for this great fishing spot.

Gunna get me some big GT's like those ones you can see up at the SW Board and then some more. Dog Tooth Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin, Sailfish and down the list we go.

Also going to take across a few secret tackle weapons like some Hack Jig Flies for surface skipping on Dolphinfish and Sailfish.

A deadly peice of tackle that were keeping up our sleeve until the last moment.

http://www.outdoorcart.com/demon/hackjig.htm

I should emphasise that this is the work part, not the holiday. I am the Team Leader so there won't be time to relax out on that pristine, fish rich, cobalt blue, pacific water.

No way!

Too much going on with those magnificent islands in the backgound, screeming reels, stand up gimble belts straining at the buckle and pre-test stretched to the max.

It can also be a dirty job at times and someone has to do it I know. A more than serious set of responsibilities and someone also has to carry the IGFA Rule book and keep our "stand up Team" motivated! So that means it's work.

Then there will be some time after the comp to relax, see the physiotherapist, take a load off the back strain, flick around the SW fly rod, and soak up the sun. Oh yeah!

More on my departure as that date (of 14 August) get's closer.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator - Lures/Baits
http://www.demonjigs.com

No worries Jerry and thanks!

Have been paying hommage to the fish gods every day now for the past several weeks.

Bowing in front of the short stroker rods and tackle box on a regular basis. Offering tokens of cut chum and fresh bait fish as well along with the odd burning of artificial bait scent.

Not quite the same as incense, but hey this is a different set of gods I know.

Not even going to begin to tell you what that smells like!

Can't do anything more until we get on the water.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com

MJB
We're fishing the annual Labor Day Invitational on the Sea of Cortez out of San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. Fishing with pal Scott Lamberth on "Sassy Lady", a gorgeous Mainship Pilot 34 that has been used as the featured boat in several Mainship ads in the major mags. Scott asked Jerry and I to join him BEFORE we won the July tournament, so he's feeling pretty smug. Win or lose we'll have a ball-but we're going to try to win!
The url is http://www.starlures.com. Looking forward to swapping reports and lures with you next month.
Tight Lines!

Bart Waldo
Vista Communications

Hey MJB. Good luck on that trip, sounds like the stuff my dreams are made of. I disappeared for a while because there were some local scares with the SirCam virus and Trojan virus, but i'm okay. Seems like HARA got pretty quiet after he won that prize.

Thanks for the best wishes Neil.

Lot of preparation finally coming to fruition and glad that you and others did not suffer from the Sircam over your way.

Just upgraded our Semtex Lures for very fast (18 knots +) high speed trolling and cannot wait to get them hooked up on some Wahoo and King Mackerel while we are away. Epoxy head and now a new HD - high flash - body to match.

http://www.outdoorcart.com/demon/semtex.htm

Those fish don't stand a chance. More news and pics when I get back. Nearly time to "rock and roll" pacific style.

Burnin Thumbs!

Steve B
Moderator Lures/Baits Forum
http://www.demonjigs.com
