carp fishen

I took my son to fitts park today (a little park in my neiborhood)to do some carp fishen.We were fishing with bread. Instead of making dough balls,we fished the bread like a flyfisherman fishes a dry fly.Let it float on down the river into some slack water and Slurp! you can just watch them come from out of nowere and surface for that piece of bread.This was my first time trying this technique and it was alot of fun[]. We caught alot of carp and a couple suckers. snagged one in the corn shoot! We gave all the fish we caught to some foreiners that were very anxious to exept them. The carp were spawning or possibly in prespawn because I could see them chasing each other around one of them was driping alot of spawnin juice.We had a great time. [font "Comic Sans MS"][size 3]When I was on Willard yesterday, the carp were also starting to group up. If you got in close to the dikes, they were there by the grundles! Also before I launched in the south marina, I docked up and could see several carp sucking the algae off the bottom of the dock. YUM! Some must have been in the teens as far a weight goes. They'd put up a good fight but I'll pass. Let the kids battle those ugly things.[/size][/font]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][size 3]I'd take the suckers though. Right about now is the time the suckers spawn in Bear Lake. Always like to throw out some doughballs and catch a few for mack bait. Thinking of that, I'd better get up there...[/size][/font]

Sounds familiar. When I was a younger we used to visit laughlin Nevada 2 weekends a month. I would take a few dinner rolls from the buffets and go down to the river walk. After about 1 or 2 rolls for chummin you would have about 50-60 carp boiling. Your arms would tired before the fish went away. All of them between the 5-8 pound range. They maybe a junk fish, but they sure are a blast to catch!!!![cool]

Catch in good waters, fillet, steam, cover with a white sauce, salt, pepper, yum, yum. Don't knock it until you try it! If the carp are large, the bones are easily removed after cookin!

do you hve to have a boat to make it to thoe grunddles of carp, i would sure like to go after some with a bow [sly]and if you need a boat i am out[], heck i am probvably out as it sits right now any way[crazy], even though my shoulder is feeling better[], i dont think my old man would like me shotting carp with a bow then pulling them in by hand, let alone my mom[angelic].

My son bow hunts the carp out at Willard. We were out there Saturday and they are really close to the dike. He got him 7. He really likes gettig carp at Willard. Don't give up hope you will be out there before you know it.
