Pineview Saturday
#1
Well, I waited as long as I could to not annoy everyone with this post. I am driving down from Logan tomorrow to hit the view and was wondering how the ice doing and the catching. I was there last Saturday and the fishing was terrible. Could mark fish but no takers. Anywho, I would feel more comfortable if I had a bit of info. Thanks. LC

Go somewhere else. The fish have shut off. I caught a 3" perch in 5 hours this week. You have seen my recent reports and a 3" perch is awful. The ice is in very good shape but the fish are not. Had them all over my jigs all day but very few hits.[:/]

That is disheartening! Thanks for the info. I guess I will either hit Mantua or Newton for the panfish. Thanks LH2.

The perch fishing yesterday (Friday) was excellent. We probably caught 50 between the two of us. (My wife and I) We had to move around a little to find them. They were in about 31' of water. We fished off the north side of cemetery point. Alot of the fish we caught were 10". Three other people in our group did just as good. Getting the four wheeler down to the ice and back was quite the chore though. LOL Perfect day. Sunny.....calm. Life is good.[fishin]

The ice in the narrows is very slick. It looks like it has melted and then refroze.
The whole area looks like Swiss cheese with all the holes in it.

Wear cleats if you go.

Wow!! You guys sure got lucky. Haven't seen that number of perch on the ice at Pine since the big crash when they all died of disease and starvation. The muskies are effectively thwarting recovery of the perch. I haven't bother to fish perch at pine for a number of years now. A few years ago, there was a small population surge and it was decent but nothing close to past memories of perch on every drop. Now it has not been worth it for me. The crappies are gigantic though but sporadic.
